If you feed on Jesus, the Bread of Life. The promise is not that Jesus will satisfy you once and for all. As if one bite is all you will ever need…at least not just yet. Just like natural bread, you can fill your belly, you can get energy from those carbs, but eventually your body uses up those resources and you feel hungry again.
Still, nothing satisfies like Jesus.
You will still get hungry, but you won’t die. That’s the mind-blowing promise. That you will continue to go through your life, expending energy and growing weary, feeding on Jesus and then becoming hungry again, but death will not have the last word.
There’s something about Jesus’ life nourishing your life that has continual power beyond this life. So much so that one day, when your physical body finally gives out, his life that has already been energizing you will fill your physical body one last final time.
We call that resurrection.
Resurrection is the final filling of your entire being’s hunger once and for all.
