Exploring the mystery of faith in ordinary life.

About Me

A

Hey, FRIENDS!

I’m Rodger. I’m a Spanish teacher turned Clergyman.

I’ve shared a lot here over the years, but these days what you’ll mostly find are conversations exploring the mystery of faith in ordinary life. I love curiosity, questions, and wonder.

I’ve served local churches in a number of roles: I’ve been a Musical Worship Leader, a Church Planter, a Co-Lead Pastor, and an Associate Pastor, and currently serve as the Lead Pastor of a revitalizing Global Methodist Church. I’ve led small groups and created small groups systems. I’ve overseen communications and built websites. I’ve formed leadership teams and developed church oversight boards. I’ve preached hundreds of sermons and trained lay preachers. I’ve taught in kids church and led retreats for adults. And I’ve traveled the world doing ecumenical ministry with pastors and leaders from many denominations.

If it needs doing in the local church, I’ve probably done it. As the saying goes, “jack of all trades, master of none.”

Not that it’s all been roses and cupcakes. I’ve also experienced my fair share of church hurt. I’ve been the victim of spiritual abuse. I’ve seen how self-serving religious power can be bolstered by ineffective structures. Nevertheless, I’m still banking on Jesus’ promise to show up in the midst of his gathered people. I’m still captivated by the beauty and mystery of Jesus, and the movements of his Spirit among his gathered people.

I hope you find something here to be helpful, encouraging, thought-provoking, or maybe even agitating. Let’s strike up a conversation. Drop me an email at revrodg@proton.me. I pinky-promise to respond.
