Exploring the mystery of faith in ordinary life.

You Won’t Need to Eat Manna Forever

Y

Your soul may feel like it’s feeding table scraps. Your heart may be subsisting on leftovers from past experiences of love. But you won’t need to subsist on manna forever.

After decades of wandering in the wilderness, at the command of the Lord, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. A renewal of the meal that marked their liberation. And the next day…

…the manna stopped appearing. instead, they began to eat the fruit of the land.

Manna had been a grace, but it was not the long-term meal plan.

In the same way, come to the Lord’s Table as often as you can. It’s a small piece of bread, an ounce of wine, but it is a grace that anticipates the coming Feast.

Scant provisions will be replaced by bountiful produce. Table scraps will be replaced by a buffet. Luke warm leftovers will be replaced by a banquet.
