Flock / Mob

F

Mob mentality is demonic. Fueled by the fires of hell itself. There has never been a mob bent on blessing, only destroying.

Flock mentality is Christ-like. Empowered by the light of heaven. A true flock of Jesus can never be characterized by violence.

This, as Paul and others would later point out, is indeed the great battle going on behind the curtain. The reality beneath our reality.

The arrest of Jesus is a microcosm of this great spiritual battle. A frothing mob bent on crushing a meek flock of adherents to a leader whose agenda was peace and healing. Hands wielding torches and swords gathered against hands that had only been trained for fishing and prayer.

For a brief moment one of Jesus’ own was tempted to cross over into mob mentality, embracing the violence, but was pulled back from the brink of that cliff. Jesus is still, to this day, urging his flock to put away their swords, to not get lured into the mob.
