Maybe that’s 100%. But most of the time it probably isn’t.
Maybe you’ve only got 90% to give to the thing in front of you. Or 80%. Or 70%. Or 60%. Or 50%. Or less, even.
What if that’s perfectly OK? Your self-awareness will keep you from over-extending yourself, from over-promising and under-delivering. Awareness of your own lack is the doorway to awareness of God’s abundance.
“My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.” Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.
2 Corinthians 12:9, The Message
No one can give 100% to everything and everyone all the time. That’s part and parcel of being humans and not gods.
Can you trust God—the Limitless One—with the remaining 10%? With the remaining 20%? With the remaining 30% or 40% or 50%? Or even more? It’s then that you’ll find the freedom to act, to do whatever it is you can do in this world. To step in, get your hands dirty, and then just dust them off and walk away.
