Is filling the world with the warm aroma of his love.
For a summer in college I lived across the street from a panadería in Lima. Every morning I’d walk out the front door to be greeted by the alluring scent of fresh bread and pastries. So I’d cross the street for breakfast.
Few things in this world are as satisfying as fresh baked carbs.
There was pre-packaged bread in the grocery stores, but I don’t think I ever bought a single loaf. When there’s fresh bread hand-made by an actual baker, why would I settle for a mass-produced, machine-made product that spent a week or two in frozen transit? I wouldn’t. And that summer I didn’t.
Yet I have often settled for other spiritual breads. Mass-produced and pre-packaged by big brand names in the religious world. Don’t get me wrong—it can stave off the hunger pangs. Anything is better than starvation.
But there’s nothing like the fresh offerings straight from the hand of the Baker.
