I Just Had A Really Great Thought

I

And then it was gone. I can’t remember it now. I lost it.

And it was a brilliant thought, really. So stimulating, in fact, that I was happy to wake up 20 minutes early. Excited to get up and write it down, to explore that trailhead and see where it might take me. You would’ve loved it. It would’ve moved you deeply.

Then, as I waited for my coffee to perc, I opened my email. Then Instagram. Then my weather app (because I could hear it raining outside, but I wanted to be sure). Then I made a note in my to-do app.

And then it was gone. The thought. That’s when it fled.

Inspirational moments can be as timid as rabbits.

Allow your soul to remain quiet long enough so that what is deep has a chance to peek out. Don’t scare it off with all the noise. Give your full attention to what’s going on inside of you before you let the outside world flood you with all it’s bright colors, bold messages, compelling campaigns, weather predictions, and to-do lists.

Output before input. Production before consumption.
