Mustering Up Motivation Is Frustrating Work

M

Because the best motivation doesn’t come from within you—it comes from outside of you. The best motivation isn’t drummed up just because you need to feel motivated—it’s imparted to you from a source external to your own self. Such motivations are more like received gifts than they are like re-charged batteries.

A need. A situation. A problem. A possibility. An opportunity.

A partner. A team. A cohort. A community.

A goal. A dream. A vision. A plan. A strategy.

Each of them is a match: Strike any one or two of those against your soul and motivation will begin to burn. That kind of un-mustered motivation has longevity.
