You can sleep, because the Lord never sleeps.
You can take your next step, because the Lord is one step ahead of you.
You can let your guard down, because the Lord’s guard is up.
You can relax, because the Lord is watching your back.
You can give up control, because the Lord’s got this.
You can rest, because the Lord is still active.
You can ease up on your productivity, because the Lord is still working.
You can close your calendar, because the Lord is already present in tomorrow.
You can unplug, because the Lord is always online.
You can be out of the loop, because the Lord is well aware of everything.
You can pause your research, because the Lord knows all the details.
You can give up your opinion, because the Lord sees all the angles.
You can let go of everything and everyone, because the Lord’s heart is big enough to hold it all.
If any of this is challenging, it may be a vision problem.
Get your eyes off of yourself, off of your life, off of all the suffering, off of all the business and busyness, and look up. Go outside. Find some mountains, or a cloud, or a dark sky where the stars are visible—anything in creation—and look up.
Even if for only a moment, give yourself permission to not because the Creator can.
See Psalm 121.
