Transcendence is always difficult to define. The more we try to clearly define it โ with adjectives, in categories, reducing it to one’s and zeroes โ the more we lose something essential. We may gain something, for sure.
Language expands as much as it limits.
The trick is to learn when definition has gone too far. We often don’t know until we’ve take a step or two beyond what it’s capable of. Then we need to summon the courage to step backwards.
Clarity and precison are helpful. Until they’re not. Until they squeeze out our view of what’s beautiful.
