Work Speaks For Itself

You can write up a bio. Your self-branding can be slick. Other people can sing your praises. Your reputation can be on point.

But the truest evidence of your calling—of who you are and why you are here—is your contribution to the world.

All the individual things you do, as well as their sum total, speak volumes. All the little things, and all the big things. All the seen things, and all the unseen things. Just showing up, day after day, intent on being a contributor more than a consumer, will tell people a lot about you.

So don’t worry too much about public opinion. Spend as much energy as possible on producing something good and beautiful and helpful, and let the work speak for itself. Let it speak for you.

I'm a husband-father-musician-pastor trying to make a decent contribution to the world. California is the Motherland, North Carolina has my heart, Georgia is Home. These are mostly my riffs on formation, leadership, and being fully human.
